'West' was Les Enfants Terribles first production. It was also responsible for the company's name, it's author Steven
Berkoff being known as the 'Enfant Terrible' of the theatre. It was a title that seemed to fit with our attitude to the
theatre and what we wanted to achieve as a company and so 'Les Enfants Terribles Theatre Company' was born.
Les Enfants' 'West' was originally performed at The Space theatre in The Isle of Dogs. Oliver Lansley produced the
show and took the lead role of 'Mike' and Martin Webb directed. The two had previously collaborated on a very
successful production of Berkoff's 'Greek' which transferred to The Riverside Studios receiving rave reviews; 'Greek' is a must see.' - Time Out, Critic's Choice
'Highly Recommended' - The Times
'A forceful reminder of why paying money to sit in the dark can give you a real thrill' - The Guardian
Following the highly stylized and traditional 'Greek', the intention with 'West' was to take the 'Berkoff' out of Berkoff
and so the braces and chalk-whitened faces were replaced with sharp suits and cigarettes.
